A Busy Morning as We Prepare for Two Major Park Events
It was an amazingly busy morning in the park today as we worked towards two major upcoming events in our calendar. With the wildflower meadow looking stunning, preparations underway for the Lord Mayor’s visit and Britain in Bloom judging, and an incredible 73 volunteers lending a hand, there was a real sense of excitement and community spirit throughout the park.
Lord Mayor to Open Didsbury Park Wild Flower Meadow
After five years of hard work, we are delighted to announce that the Lord Mayor of Manchester will formally open our wild flower meadow on 29th June. With 43 volunteers in the park today, plenty of planting, path clearing, mowing, litter picking and yes, of course, the promise of cake, it was another brilliant morning in Didsbury Park.
Summer Bedding, Wildflowers and a Big Day of Planting in Didsbury Park
In record May temperatures we took delivery of nearly 2,000 colourful new summer bedding plants from MCC, so it was all hands to the pumps this morning as 46 volunteers, including a brilliant team from NatWest, helped plant them around the park. The wildflower meadow is also looking beautiful, with ox-eye daisies taking centre stage this year…
Bank Holiday Volunteers Embrace the Heat in Didsbury Park
On a very hot Bank Holiday Monday, 21 willing volunteers still turned out to help across the park, from watering the Flower Walk to tidying trees, flower beds and the Bird Garden. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard in the heat — including our regular families, new volunteer Felix, and all those keeping Didsbury Park looking its best.
Rain, Leaves, Compost and 48 Volunteers

Volunteers from Siemens, Brentwood College, Bridge College and our regular Monday team tackled everything from moving leaves and spreading compost to preparing flower beds, repairing fencing, cleaning benches and litter picking across the park.
